Our Schools are Starved for Money  – Who Pays What?

Our schools depend on local property values and money from the state. Historically, the state and local taxpayers contributed an equal amount of money.

Over the years, funding has shifted to local taxpayers with the state’s contribution shrinking. Our friends at Raise Your Hand Texas have an excellent informational video that explains where the money comes from https://www.raiseyourhandtexas.org/school-funding/who-really-funds-public-schools/

State funding, or the lack of it, is an important issue that will face our schools in the legislative session that begins this coming January. We need elected officials who will support our public schools.

Texas Educators Vote has declared Monday, October 22nd as Educator Voting Day. Mark your calendar to vote that day and wear your “I Voted” sticker as a role model for your students.
